Financing Campaigns

In this article it is talking about the laws for financing a campaign. The federal law is the law that authorize haw a candidates finance their campaigns in how they raise their funds, from whom they’re getting there money from and in what amount. Candidates running for president must have a political committee. The political committee must also have a treasurer that is registered with the federal election commission. There are many different committees that every candidate must register to. These political comities are referred to as PAC’S or political action comities. When the committee is registered it can now start raising funds for the campaign. Once a candidate enters a political committee they must start raising committee funds. Each committee has an information web site that helps voters chose which committee is best for them. Both PAC’s and FEC must receive some sort of funding from the public whither it is from a wealthy donor or an average Joe.

Congressional Elections

This article is about congress and its role in making laws. It talks about the difference between parliamentary system and the American system. Presidents and legislators are elected separately and have their own separate election process. When a president wants to make a law he must have it approved by congress before he can sign it. Both the house and the senate have equal powers but their form of election is what makes them different. The American Founders wanted the House Representatives to close to the public. This is the reason why the house is large so that it can accommodate its many members and have two year elections. Every member of the house has a sole representative that was chosen by popular vote. Each state has at least one house seat maybe more depending on the population of that state. In the past during congressional elections people will tend to vote on the parties that that representative is in. Today people look for the individual qualities and performance and diminished the party loyalty. Since the 1960’s national elections have changed and today with media and the importance of aggressive voting candidates have made voter more aware of them. Not as a candidate but as an individual that the public would like to represent them.
